Hi, I’m Sarah.
I am an oil painter and ceramic artist. To me, there is something so real about oil paint. It has such a long history, and gives me a strong feeling of connection to the great artists of the past who inspire me. The vague, very subjective feeling of “realness” that I get from oils, I also find in clay. They say to think of your paintbrush as an extension of your hand. With clay, my paintbrush is my hands.
I am graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Benedictine College in May 2025, and hope to move somewhere where the arts scene is thriving and vibrant with youth and new ideas. I’ve recently coined the phrase “I make art, therefore I am,” to voice how closely my existence is tied to my artistic practice. I strive to take myself seriously in my art, and lightly in my life.
